Rev. Doug Forrester who serves as assistant to the bishop and chief operating officer for the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist church offered the message for us on this Homecoming Sunday. We celebrated 71 years of being in ministry. The message focused on Luke 5:17-26 where Jesus healed the paralyzed man. This man was lowered through the roof by his 4 friends to be with Jesus. Rev. Doug challenged us to be a church who cares for those who are living on the margins and are in need of Jesus. He shared that "taboo" means being set apart and holy as we live into our lives as followers of Jesus.
