On this Pentecost Sunday, Rev. Dr. Gwen Andrews offered the message from Acts 2:1-20, the story of the birth of the church as the Holy Spirit came upon those gathered in the Upper Room. Dr. Michael Ross led the choir in music.
The worship service focused on the last phrase of our mission statement, compassion for others. Pastor Larry offered the message from Philippians 2:1-4 which points us in the direction living for others, setting aside our self interests.
We continued to offer messages based on our mission statement. Pastor Larry shared from Ephesians 2:11-22 where Paul speaks of Jesus breaking down all the walls of hostility that existed. Jesus is still in the business of bringing all people together in unity. Dr. Michael Ross led the choir in music.
The message focused on the second part of Belmont’s mission statement, a vital center for community ministry. Rev. Dr. Gwen Andrews offered the message based on Matthew 25.- whatever we do for the least of these we do for Jesus. Dr. Michael Ross led the choir in music.
On April 21st, the message was drawn from Acts 2:44-47. We are starting a sermon series based on our mission statement. Pastor Larry offered the sermon which focused on how the early church in the book of Acts was similar to Belmont regarding the emphasis on prayer, fellowship, and worship. Worship for April 14th focused on how faith gives us the strength to face all the challenges of life. Rev. Larry Cochran offered the message from Acts 3:12-19. Rev. Lyn Harding led the choir in music and Kay Nicholas served as worship leader on this Native American Sunday.
Rev. Dr. Gwen Andrews offered the message for worship on April 7th taken from 1 John. We were challenged to keep eyes focused on Jesus who leads us on the way of faith. Dlr. Michael Ross led the choir in music.
The church celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ through music and preaching. Rev. Larry Cochran offered the message based on John 20:1-18 with a sermon title, “Who are You Looking For?” Dr. Michael Ross led the choir in music. Kay Nicholas and Raquan Williams both offered solos. On this Good Friday, the church offered the Tenebrae service where the Passion of Christ was shared through 16 readings. Dr. Michael Ross led the church in music. MaryKaye Cochran offered a solo titled, “The Lamb of God.”
