Good Trouble Conference, Belmont UMC, 3510 Broad Rock Boulevard, Richmond, VA 23234. Sat. Feb. 25, 9:00am-4:00pm. The conference will focus on the “good trouble” that late Representative John Lewis spoke of, as well as Micah 6:8. The January 22nd worship service focused on unity. There is some much need for this in the world that we live in. Rev. Larry Cochran offered the message challenging us all to have the mind of Christ. Paul had appealed to the Corinthian church to have the same mind and to have unity. Dr. Michael Ross led us in music. The service can be seen here and on our Facebook page.
Today we reaffirmed are Baptismal covenant as a congregation. Rev. Dr. Gwen Andrews preached from Matthew 3:13-17 which tells of the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist. We remembered our own baptism and what that means for our lives today.
On this New Year’s Day, we worshipped using the Wesley Covenant Service as a way to begin the new year. Rev. Larry Cochran preached from Matthew 2:1-12 which is the story of the Magi who came to Bethlehem to worship Jesus. They were overwhelmed with joy. Dr. Michael Ross led the music. On Christmas day, a service of lessons and carols was offered in worship. Dr. Michael Ross led the music. The service featured readings by Gin Steffen, Dave Barden, Diane Patton and Ed Patton. MaryKaye Cochran and Michael Ross sang a duet titled “Christmas Day.”
Our Christmas Eve service focused on the hope that is found in the manger. Jesus came into the world to offer us hope, a hope that is eternal. Jesus came to be our savior. Rev. Dr. Gwen Andrews offered the message. A solo was offered by Kay Nicholas, “Sweet, baby Jesus boy”. Dr. Michael Ross led us in music.
Join us as we celebrate the birth of Jesus at Belmont UMC. Christmas Eve candlelight service on the 24th will be held at 7:00 PM. Christmas Day service of Lessons and Carols on the 25th at 10:00 AM.
