About Our Children’s Ministry– Our children’s director, Robin Dodson leads our children’s ministry. Bible lessons are taught each Sunday following the worship service. Lunch is provided.
About Our Youth Ministry- Youth Directors Liam Fairfax and Rev. Autumn Merrill meet with the youth the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 11:15 AM in the Fellowship room. Youth learn about the bible and participate in activities that help them grow in their faith and in their care and love for others.
Loving and caring for “all of God’s children” and helping them grow in love and peace is the goal of the Children’s Ministry.
Ministry leaders are committed to providing a safe and comfortable place for children to develop and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, discover their gifts and talents and find their purpose in the world.
We pray that the children’s ministry is planting seeds of hope and love that will grow forever.
Here’s what our kids say:
“I love coming to Belmont because it is fun. I feel safe, and I can be with friends. “
“I think the teachers that work with us want us to learn about Jesus and have a good life. They teach us to sing, pray, dance and to love others because God loves us.“
“They feed us every Sunday. They give us toys and clothes if we need them.”
“The people love us, they say nice things to us and hug us.”
“When we sing, they tell us how good we sound and how nice we look.”
“These children are so blessed. The church gives them the school supplies they need. Some of the children would not have them because their families might not be able to buy the supplies they need. I enjoyed helping unpack the boxes and put the bags together.” Zsa
Sunday School
Sunday School for the children is held each week with meaningful activities including Bible study/Christian education, prayer, Bible verses, games, arts and crafts, refreshments, fun and fellowship designed to help kids grow in their faith. Children participate each Sunday during the 10:00 service in Time for the Younger Church and hear children’s messages related to the sermon of the day or other topics.
Children’s and Youth Singers (OMG)
Participants are instructed in vocal and musical techniques, use of instruments, performance and stage presence, etc. The singers participate once per month with praise and worship songs during performances at services. They participate in worship services throughout the year including the annual Easter and Christmas cantatas, Homecoming, and other events. The children also join the Praise Dance Ensemble for performances.
Acolytes and Worship support
Children and youth serve as acolytes and in other aspects of worship service. Youth train other children in what to do.
Community Service
Children are encouraged to give back and are involved in the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet, assisting with events, supporting clean up events and with implementing the school supplies drive and distribution.
Social and Fellowship Opportunities
Children are provided social activities to promote friendship and fun – periodic pizza, popcorn, hot dog, and ice cream parties, Holiday Blessings shopping trips, group trips to restaurants, one on one interactions with the pastors and other church leaders. Children are included in trips to cultural and other resources (ex. field trips to museums, botanical gardens, amusement parks, and other facilities).
Leadership Development
Training the next generation of leaders is the responsibility of every organization and is an integral part of the Children’s ministry with a direct and indirect approach. Traits of leaders in a Christian environment are emphasized including love, service, honesty, peace, patience, inclusion, responsibility and excellence.
Education and academic support
In addition to supporting the spiritual growth of children and youth, Belmont supports children in their academic lives. The annual school supplies drive provides basic school supplies to families and youth in the church and in the Food Pantry community. Students are also recognized for Honor Roll and academic achievement and an annual recognition is held for graduates. Support is also provided to the children with age level academic subjects – long division, general math, reading etc. – by educators in the church.
